Sorry I haven’t posted
much anything this week! We’ve been getting ready for the Live Nativity at our church. It is such an awesome experience! There is something powerful about being outside in the cold and snow (with animals!) and being able to share the message of the gospel outside the four walls of our church. Amazing.
It’s also been a special way to kick off the Christmas season with our family. It’s just too easy to get busy baking, shopping and wrapping…all the while, forgetting what it is you are actually celebrating.
Here are some pictures of previous years:
Mary, Joseph and Baby Jesus
The shepherds. It gets real when the donkey begins nibbling on your shoulder.
The angels…lost in fluff.
We have a petting zoo. If you’ve never heard a donkey ee-aw during a live nativity, you haven’t lived. (I have no idea what it is called when a donkey neighs? snorts? whinnys? Any donkey aficionados out there? )
Cutest. Goat. Ever.
We run a low-key scavenger hunt for the kids. They then receive prizes off the prize table. Fun!
Last year, we added a Gourmet Hot Cocoa Bar. It was….WOW.
This year, we are adding another element. A photo booth with a giant Sock Monkey. It’s just fun!
If you live anywhere in the Chicagoland area, take the quick trip out to Lisle this weekend for the Live Nativity! Click here for more info. We would love to see you there! It’s this Saturday and Sunday, December 5 & 6. The showings will be at 6, 7 and 8 p.m., nightly.
