My kids are transitioning from homeschooling to a full-time school this fall. eeeks! We are all excited about the awesome school they will be attending, but I still have a small but persistent ache in my heart. But, because I don’t want to get my keyboard wet with all my tears, we better concentrate on the cuteness that is Bento Boxes!
Since we have homeschooled since my oldest was in kindergarten, I’ve never had to pack lunches. We’ve always just eaten delicious, real-food leftovers for lunch. When I found the bento box movement on Pinterest, I was hooked. Bento boxes are filled with delicious home cooked (not processed and prepackaged) foods. Yea! This may take a little more planning, but if you already cook for your family, it really isn’t adding any extra steps or expense. Just cook at dinner and breakfast, with a plan and you will have lunches that you wish you would have been fed!
Here are the bento boxes that I found at T.J. Maxx. A Bento Box is just a container that is divided up into small sections. It is made for fresh food and the divider help the liquids, etc. stay put. Also, my kids have a “no-food-touching” phobia, so that will work well for that situation as well. I love the Bentos because everything doesn’t get squashed and mashed in plastic zip lock bags! That never looks appetizing.
These Bento Boxes were super cheap, they are plastic but BPA free. I don’t want to spend a lot, because I don’t want to spend a lot :0 …and because one of my kids is notorious for losing everything that isn’t attached to them.
