I have an adorable golden-doodle who loves to eat. He’s polished off a ham, a few freshly-baked loaves of bread and once, about a dozen Maple-Bacon Cupcakes. They had real bacon on top. (Seriously, who could fault him for that one?!)
But, I’ve found, you don’t have to spend a fortune to feed your dog nutritiously!
Here is my list for the best deals for great dog food and treats.
DOG FOOD: We purchase the Ol’ Roy Complete Nutrition at Wal-Mart. $20.98 for a 50 lb. bag! He loves it and it contains all the protein, fat & veggies that all the leading brands do.
DOG TREATS: My husband came up with this find. We purchase Ol’ Roy Dinner Rounds. They come in a 15 lb. bag for $14.36. Compare that with Alpo TBonz Dog Snacks that sell for $9.47 for 45 oz. That’s a major savings!
BONES: The best knuckle bones are from Walgreens. They charge only $3.50 for a huge knuckle bone. (Wal-Mart sells theirs for $5.42.)
DENTAL STICKS: I pick up Pedigree dental sticks at Wal-Mart, 25 for only $7.99.
Generally, we don’t feed him table food. But, when I have leftover meat scraps that isn’t sauced, I add that to his food. If it’s just going to be thrown away, I would rather supplement his food. That’s a great way to feed your dog some great food for absolutely zero cost.
