We’ve always waited until Christmas morning, right after the kids open their stockings, to read the Christmas story. #276 Bad Parenting Ideas: Read a long passage from the Bible while kids are waiting to open presents. For a spiritual moment, probably not the best choice mom and dad!
Instead, we are going to do a short section of the Christmas story each day during the month of December. One thing I really love about doing it this way, is you are able to incorporate prophecies about Jesus from the Old Testament, learn the story of John the Baptist, as well as get a better understanding of the whole beautiful story of the incarnation!
If your family would also like to add this to your daily Advent experience, print these cards. I printed them on cardstock and then plan on hanging them with mini-clothespins. They are designed 4 to a page (3″ x 5″ cards.) If you really want to get fancy, use your rounded corner tool. Since I don’t have one, mine are going to be modern & square. 😉 Here is an example of what they look like:
I hope it will be a sweet breakfast or evening tradition to start with your family!
