We make our own mini pizzas on a fairly regular basis. Especially during the summer, because we make them on the grill. De-lish! But, since this is a KID’S Summer Cooking School, we are going to skip making our own crust (which is actually pretty easy & yummy!) and just go with crescent roll dough. You could use flatbread, home made dough or the store-bought pizza crust. Whatever floats your boat!
Cut up some veggies, such as bell peppers. Add some protein, such as pepperoni or cooked sausage. Add some shredded cheese, some variety is nice. I like using pizza as a way introduce new foods to my kids, such as a new veggie or a different cheese. My kids don’t like sauce too much, so we just skipped the sauce and used a drizzle of olive oil to get everything to stick. Add a few interesting seasonings such as italian seasoning or parsley. Add some fresh herbs, like basil or oregano. Don’t forget to add some coarse salt to top it all off! Delicious, and you have just taught your kids how to build a balanced meal. Carbs + protein + veggie = Awesome!
Here is the free printable! We print these on card stock, then add it to the kids’ growing stock of recipes.
