On my journey down the road of being more budget-minded, I have learned a valuable lesson. Don’t spend money on things that don’t matter!! Sounds like a no-brainer, right? I can go into Target and get lured by all the yummy smelling soaps, candles, and decor items…meanwhile, totally blowing my grocery budget. Candles that smell like cookies are not the same as having the cookies!
So, in an effort to keep my budget in control, I decided to DIY my Mrs. Meyers Hand Soaps. It worked great! It’s so easy!
COST of Mrs. Meyers single soap: $4.99
COST of a GALLON of Mrs. Meyers DIY hand soap:
Bar of Mrs. Meyers soap – $4.99
Glycerin – $7.00 (guestimating!)
Distilled Water – $1.00
GRAND TOTAL of $13.00 for a gallon! not bad…
1. Gather your supplies:
2. Grate your soap:
3. Put Distilled Water into pot, heat it up!
4. Add 2 tsp. glycerin.
5. Add the grated soap and stir until melted.
6. Once the soap has melted, allow to cool for 24 hours. If it is too thick, use a mixer to blend it up. Store it in the jug that held your distilled water.
7. Fill a pretty soap dispenser & you are set to wash them hands!! 🙂
I hope you enjoy this recipe!
