Want an easy DIY project that will refresh your whole house for not a lot of cha-ching? Paint your front door! You will only need a quart of your favorite paint color and a few hours. Here’s what we did:
This was my before picture…sorry I don’t have a better one! You will need to peek behind my ballerina to see the dreariness of the front porch. Why did I think matte black on the urns? That was a mistake! And the blah planters under my windows totally didn’t pop. The rockers were sun-faded and chipped. This was not my happy place.
We had just added a white picket fence in the front and the entryway did not scream cottage charm at all. So, I began googling front door brick. As I searched through doors that were edged in brick, I tended to continue to pick out blue doors. Here are some of my inspiration pictures:
How imperfectly charming is this little area? Love it!
Even this cruddy old building looks absolutely charming with the peeling brick and the blue doors. I was sold. Blue door it is!
Here is our freshly painted, freshened up look! We didn’t purchase anything but the paint, new house numbers, a mailbox and a couple throw pillows. Super cheap upgrade with TONS of bang!
- BLUE PAINT (for door): Behr Outdoor Semi-gloss Enamel “Not a Cloud in Sight” (MQ4-50)
- French Blue Rustoleum for planters
- Hi-gloss black Rustoleum for urns:
- White Rustoleum for rocking chairs:
- Numbers, kick plate & mailbox from Home Depot.
- Nautical throw pillows from Home Goods.
- Orange side table (with removable tray top) from Home Goods.
Enjoy a mini-project that will give you some major curb-appeal!
