I have a confession. The first playdate that my son was invited to, I didn’t know what to do. Should I leave him? Should I stay? What do people do? I didn’t know anything about playdates. We never had them when I was a kid! So, I opted for safety (he was my first, you know!) and stayed. Embarrassing! Why didn’t I ask the mom what she expected? I don’t know, probably because I wanted to appear like I knew what I was doing! Looking back, I’m sure the other mom was thinking, “Get out of here! I’ve got a house to clean while the kids are occupied!” ha!
Fast forward to this past weekend. My daughter invites loads of girls from school, church and anywhere else she can think of, to her birthday party. As the girls were about to arrive, I suddenly realized, if something happens to one of these girls (i.e. broken arm, concussion), I don’t even know some of the parents’ names, much less their cell numbers! It’s amazing the trust that we all have to just drop our kids off at a perfect strangers’ home. Most of the kids had phones, but if they were unconscious, they could hardly make a phone call, now could they?
So, I whipped together this contact list, so I would have all the numbers for the party-goers in one place. Sure, I had to chase a few moms down the driveway. As they were peeling away. In the rain. But, who’s complaining? 😉
Here is the handy little printable for your use. Use it for a birthday party or just for a playdate this summer.
