I began drinking smoothies each morning out of a desire to control my weight. You see, I am 5’3”, so it doesn’t take long to use up all the calories that I can use in a day! I love the fact that it tastes like I am drinking a shake and yet it doesn’t have all the empty calories.
As I began experimenting with different smoothie recipes, I began learning all the different things I could sneak in to add more nutrition into my diet. You see, I don’t like to snack on baby carrots or celery. That feels like dieting! So, I put it into my morning smoothie. Not to say that I am health-averse, but I would much rather have a shake than a salad. With a smoothie, I drink a salad and think it’s a shake! Then, adding some of these fantastic super foods will put your smoothie over-the-top when it comes to health benefits.
These superfoods may be a little on the pricey-side but honestly, you will only use from 1 tsp to a couple tablespoons of a few of these ingredients per smoothie. Much cheaper than stopping at Starbucks for a latte & a scone…and soooo much better for you!
