One thing that I have learned about parenting is that nothing works forever. Take chores for instance, we used to use The Chore Chart App for a long time. It was AWESOME until one day it wasn’t! (that or, we were going broke from purchasing the “prizes”!!) The same thing has happened with our kids’ devotionals. We will get into a great one and then, they aren’t “devoting” anymore because they need something fresh. Right now, we are “in-between” awesome devotionals. So, that spurred me to look to YouVersion and find some fantastic devotionals that my kids will want to read each morning.
The reason I would like to give you a few options from YouVersion is just the fact that it makes it easy to keep their devotional content fresh. These devotionals are written just for kids & many of them have video clips to make it even more kid-friendly. Love, love, love these devos!
The Best Kid’s Devotionals on YouVersion:
What’s In The Bible: Heroes of the Old Testament
This is a great devotional with the added bonus that it shows a clip from What’s In the Bible each day of the devotional. Super cute!
I think Proverbs is a super-relevant books for kids to read. Think about all the craziness they take in while they are at school each day. This will help them to begin to understand how to have right relationships, how to treat people, how to act wise and not like the school fool.
I love this because it is a creative’s devotional. One day you may act out what you learned in the reading. Another day, you may draw a picture of what you think the proverb was teaching. I’m thinking we may begin reading this each morning as a family during breakfast.
“It Is Finished” Was Just the Beginning
Ever feel like your kids are so busy celebrating that they really don’t understand what Easter is all about? It may not be Easter when you are reading this, but the story is always relevant. What I like about this devotional is that there is a section for adults and one for kids. It leads you through the Easter story and explains the why behind what happens. This would be a fantastic journey to take as a family.
Next Steps for Kids
This is a 3-day devotional that explains salvation, baptism and communion. Each day there is a short video clip along with several verses of scripture to read together out of the Bible. Very good for kids who have not committed their lives to Christ yet.
My Super Faith in Action
This is such a fun devotional! It is a four-day devotional that tells the stories of four men in the Bible that had HUGE faith. Each day there is a great video. Your kids will love it and just see if you aren’t trying to peek at it over their shoulders. 😉
The Bible App for Kids
This is a super devotional for very preschool-aged kids. They will love the simple Bible stories and the great videos. You can read the devotions either by downloading The Bible App for Kids, or by reading/watching the devotions through YouVersion.
These are are my six favorites. What devotional or Children’s Bible do you read with your kids? Do you read as a family or do the kids read on their own? Shout out how you do your family devotionals, or if you are “in-between” devotionals like we are. 😉
(By the way, I am not being paid for this review. I just love YouVersion!)
