I was in South Haven, MI at an adorable little book shop. I love bookstores in houses, where you get lost in all the nooks and crannies, shelves piled high with books. I happened to stumble across this little gem and began paging through it. 1001 Things Your Kids Should See & Do (or else they’ll never leave home). So, in the spirit of the Bucket List post, here are some more great ideas to add to your list. Take a look at these things, they aren’t just more things to do, but they also consider who you want your child to become.
I love the premises of these books. Our job as parents sometimes becomes trivialized to taxi driver, cook and money-giver. But, our main job is to TRAIN. TRAIN them to blow their nose. TRAIN them how to manage their money. TRAIN them how to deal with conflicts. This book is a great reminder of all the things we need to remember to teach them.

He also includes 100 books every child should read before they leave home. I’m challenged by this list as well. (And a little scared by my alien thumb in this shot. 🙂

This book spans from early childhood until graduation. He also has a book out just for parents with teens. It is also a great read.
